Stonehorse by Kaesler is a true reflection of regional diversity and blending creativity. Stonehorse wines are a collection of estate grown vineyards in the Barossa Valley and Clare Valley ranging in age from 15 to 45 years. Currently the Stonehorse portfolio consists of Chardonnay, GSM, Malbec, Touriga and Shiraz with each regional blend of hand selected parcels shining through. Stonehorse wines provide the unique opportunity for winemakers Reid Bosward and Stephen Dew to blend grapes with different characteristics that complement and enhance the qualities of each region.
The Stonehorse wines are full of character like the teams of Clydesdale horses that used to work the heavy clay soil at the Kaesler vineyard, long before tractors were invented. An assemblage of estate vineyards ranging image from 15 to 45 years in age.

He has worked in a number of wineries in his career including Lindemans, Penfolds and Charles Melton resulting in a wide breadth of knowledge from the science of oenology to the importance of marketing and presentation.
Stephen has acted as an Associate Judge at the Barossa Valley wine show and has also completed a number of vintages at Domaine Prieure Roch in Burgundy where he learned the natural winemaking process which lead to the creation of the Fave Grenache.
The soils vary slightly between the two different sites, with theBarossa vineyard being clay loam over clay and the Clare Valley vineyard sandy loam over medium clay that is quite stony with areas of gravel. The soils at depth range from silty clay with decomposed rock at the bottom of the hill to weathered bluestone and slate at the top of the hill.
