Chateau de Meursault has a history which dates back to the 11th Century & the property is considere done of the most significant in the Côte d’Or. A total of 60 hectares of vineyard are owned by the Domaine in some of the finest terroirs of the region including Pommard & Volnay, whilst in Meursault the property is blessed with being the largest holder of ‘Charmes ‘ 1er Cru & several monopoles including ‘ Clos deChateau ‘. The 16th Century limestone cellars are some of the largest in Burgundy & each year the property hosts the Paulée de Meursault which celebrates the end of harvest for the region. In 2012 the property was purchased by Olivier Halley & he has made several significant investments including appointing Stéphane Follin-Arbelet as General Manager who has previously run Bouchard Pére & Fils & William Fevrein Chablis.They have invested in sustainable vineyard practices and state of the art optical sorting machine which ensures only the finest fruit is used in each cuvee. This historic property is now producing some icons of Meursault that ensures the next chapter of this regal property in great hands.
The bouquet reveals a gentle and fleshy character combined with black berries aromas.This Volnay spreads great power finishing on tightly tannins. Great ageing potential.
Floral aromas with a hint of stone fruit notes. The mouth is balanced, complex and round. The minerality of the different vineyards brings a great length to the wine.
Yellow fruits and toasted freshness. Generous and well balanced on the palate. Nice length, hold by a delicate oaky note.
Nose on fresh red fruits such as redcurrant and strawberry. Elegant mouth with a nice length on supple and mellow tannins.
Nose offering red and black fruit notes such as cherry. Velvet, flesh and strength on the palate, with energy, power and a great balance.
The winery has very modern equipment that is based on gravity. Every year, new investments are made to vinify with precision each plot of the vineyard: tractors, optical sorting machine, pneumatic presses, wooden thermo-regulated vats, conveyor-belt for filling the vats, bottle engraversEach parcel is pressed, vinified and separately. In order to extract the specific features of every terroir, there may be up to 6 different cuvées from the same appellation. In general, the production volume ofis equal to this of the at Château de Meursault.
The vineyard of Château de Meursault spreads over 65 hectares in Côte de Beaune and the majority of vineyards are classified as Premiers Crus and Grands Crus. The typical feature of the Burgundy parceling is that all the vines are shared out over more than 110 parcels of land. They are situated within an average radius of 10 kilometers around the Château and the smallest measuring just 10 ares (1 are = 10 m2).
