Established in 1974 and nestled in the heart of Tasmania’s renowned wine country, Pipers Brook Vineyard stands as a cornerstone of the Tasmanian wine industry. Located in the Tamar Valley and at the forefront of Tasmania’s winemaking legacy embodying the spirit of innovation and excellence. In making great wine, we first had to understand, then learn to fully express our unique origin. These wines are entirely estate grown and bottled. This allows us to achieve the utmost integrity of product, ensuring that each wine is a distinct reflection of both the location and vintage.
Abundant black forest fruits of red and dark berries, with red cherry and hints of strawberry, complex and earthy with alluring spice notes.
Peach with delicate citrus and mealy oak. Creaminess and texture from barrel fermentation and battonage fills the mid palate, with fine natural acidity giving seamless balance with line and minerality.
Kaffir lime, citrus blossom, and soft almond aromas. Abundant, juicy lime, wet slate, and ripe blood orange character.
Intensely lifted aromatics of Lychee, Turkish delight and mandarin peel with hints of rose petal.
Our close-knit team in the winery is led by Chief Winemaker Luke Whittle. Luke's career in wine began in New Zealand, working part-time in a West Auckland winery in 2007 while completing a degree in Wine Science at the University of Auckland. After several vintages in New Zealand, Luke made the move to Central Victoria to work with the Balgownie Estate in 2011.
Having gained experience in vintage wine making in Canada and Germany, Luke was drawn to Pipers Brook and Tasmania for vintage 2015 to pursue an ever-growing passion for cool climate wines. Luke returned in 2016 and was appointed as Senior Winemaker with Pipers Brook Vineyard. In 2019, Luke was appointed Chief Winemaker and oversees the portfolio of wines for Kreglinger Wine Estates.
Viticulturist and vineyard manager Luciano Caravia joined the team in late 2021 and brings with him over 16 years of industry experience, not to mention a Bachelor of Agriculture and a PhD in vine physiology under heat stress. His journey in viticulture has brought him all the way from the Casablanca Valley Chile, to South Australia and now to the Tamar Valley Tasmania where he's proud to lead our vineyard team.
He's passionate about the ever changing challenges that each vintage here in Tasmania presents, and how every step in the vineyard plays a part in the resulting wine.
