Pipers Brook Vineyard has been producing exceptional cool-climate wines on the north coast of Tasmania since 1974. The combination of the unique geography, temperate climate and proximity to the Bass Straight allows us to capture the purity of Tasmania in our unique, award-winning wines. Pipers Tasmania is a modern twist on the traditions of Pipers Brook Vineyard.
Our close-knit team in the winery is led by Chief Winemaker Luke Whittle. Luke's career in wine began in New Zealand, working part-time in a West Auckland winery in 2007 while completing a degree in Wine Science at the University of Auckland. After several vintages in New Zealand, Luke made the move to Central Victoria to work with the Balgownie Estate in 2011.
Having gained experience in vintage wine making in Canada and Germany, Luke was drawn to Pipers Brook and Tasmania for vintage 2015 to pursue an ever-growing passion for cool climate wines. Luke returned in 2016 and was appointed as Senior Winemaker with Pipers Brook Vineyard. In 2019, Luke was appointed Chief Winemaker and oversees the portfolio of wines for Kreglinger Wine Estates.
